Unfortunately, JTA isn't doing the Skyway connection anymore. Evidently, they believe it costs too much.
My guess is that the
actual reason is that they keep tricking themselves into thinking the U2C conversion will happen sooner rather than later (because they have essentially secured the money already) and under that framework it doesn't make sense to do the platform rebuild for the existing system if they're going to build an entirely separate station next to it "soon" for the new one anyway.
Of course, in the real world there has been nothing but obvious sign after obvious sign that the technology simply isn't there yet, but they're the transit agency here.
Perhaps it is time for new leadership at JTA.
The current administration confirmed two of the three mayoral appointees on JTA's Board of Directors (Stephanie Burch and Aundra Wallace) to 4-year terms in the last year, while the third (Abel Harding) was appointed the year before. Unless someone resigns, that means the earliest opportunity for the next mayor to make an appointment would be 2025, when Harding's seat is up (and he would be available for re-appointment). The other three appointed seats are selected by the Governor. The board then selects the CEO, who then selects their leadership team.
But anyway, that's enough off-topic, this is about Pet Paradise. Which seems fine, a downtown location will be interesting.
