Gullah Fest Headed to Springfield This Weekend

While Jacksonville is home to the country's largest concentration of Gullah Geechee descendants, many do know much about their major impact on the development, traditions and cultural impact of what is now Florida's largest city. On Saturday, October 26, 2019, the Jacksonville Gullah Geechee Nation Community Development Corporation will host their 10th annual Gullah Fest in Springfield as part of an effort to better expose an important part of what makes the city a special place.

I am so happy to see this happen.  Jacksonville needs things of this sort.  Hope it's successful and has a good turnout.  The weather looks ominous, but it will be a good fest to check out in a great old area.  (My uncle owned a jewelry store in that block)
