Time is a flat circle? We're looking at 18 months between the first and second time Council will approve this project. And about two years between Council initially approving this project and the actual groundbreaking. Jax for you, I guess.

“We were ready to go. Then COVID hit and, obviously, our focus changed at that time,” Hoover said. “We weren’t comfortable during a for-sale product down there. That doesn’t mean it won’t be successful. We think they’ll (Johnson Commons) get it done and be successful.

“We want it to get done, it’s just not going to be us,” he said.

Sifakis said he thinks the Northeast Florida housing market is right for a for-sale product in LaVilla.

“The residential market is on fire right now. There is only a month of inventory. We do think there is a market there. You can’t be sure because there’s no (comparison) Downtown, but we’re willing to be a pioneer.”

Two kinds of developers, I guess.
So, to the young people fighting in this movement for change, here is my charge: march in the streets, protest, run for school committee or city council or the state legislature. And win. - Ed Markey

Market rate for sale housing isn't Vestcor's niche. They should have not been awarded this property in the first place. Jax should consider itself lucky if JWB and Corner Lot get to pull off their plan for this development.

Agreed, just unfortunate the right team wasn't picked to begin with

Interesting using COVID as an excuse in the middle of the hottest market in decades.
