ANNOUNCING THE 2ND ANNUAL HERITAGE DAYS FESTIVAL
Join us for a weekend of family FUN! The SPAR Council will be hosting the 2nd Annual Springfield Heritage Days Festival: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, July 4th-6th, 2008. Our goal is to raise money and build awareness for the Springfield Preservation and Restoration Council. The Springfield Heritage weekend will begin on Friday, July 4th, in Klutho Park with a Mommie’s Group Kiddie Parade at 4pm followed by the popular Throwback Baseball Game following shortly after, played in authentic antique uniforms and equipment. As the game wraps up, our local DJ will spin the melodic sounds of modern jazz while the monthly First Friday neighborhood party gets under way. Food and beverages will be catered by SPAR. Fireworks, clearly visible from downtown, will cap off the evening for everyone in the park.
Saturday, July 5th, is kicked off again in Klutho Park with our original Springfield East-West Kickball Game at 11:30 am! Again, residents and visitors on each team will square off to compete for the win, with food and drink vendors in abundance to help you cheer them on. At 1pm, after the game wraps up 13 local musicians will fill the air with the stylish sounds of our first-ever Springfield Acoustic Music Festival! Local artisans will also be displaying their skills with paintings, photographs, sculptures, jewelry and more for sale! This festival will last all afternoon and into the evening from 1pm to 10pm, and will share the park space with animals available for adoption, a Jacksonville producer’s screening of an award-winning short film, a wine tasting, a drawing to win a new automobile and many more activities for children and adults alike. At 5pm, the Festival will be punctuated with the increasingly popular Historic Home Tour, which will take visitors and residents on a journey through some of Springfield’s finest properties. At the end of the night, the drawing will be held to select the winner of the donated two night weekend getaway at the Amelia Island Plantation Resort!
Sunday, July 6th will wrap up the Festival with the second round of the Historic Home & Garden Tour beginning from 1pm to 5pm. Please be sure to join us if you missed it on Saturday, as we will again showcase a select group of homes for all who wish to join us. After the Tour, join us at the Karpeles Manuscript Library at 8pm for drinks, desserts and awards for Best Garden and Best Home; also to thank our generous corporate sponsors.
Please join us for a one-of-a-kind event you will always remember!
