I'm only ten minutes in. It's hard to watch even for some shocked laughter.

A Sarah Palin speech is a series of incomplete sentences, packed with politically-right buzzwords. It's grating but I'm making myself watch it.

I think she lost the audience; especially with her "opium" line...even Trump supporters are like "wtf" is going on.

Exactly what does this have to do with Jax? Nothing. Must have ran out of stories. I could have read this a million other places.

I don't understand the personality that responds to discussions and articles with "and, how does this relate to Jacksonville?"

It's unnecessary commentary. So, there's a box that you think that Jacksonville residents should be in - anything outside of that scope is irrelevant?

Will you post on the New York Times website "and, how does this relate to New York? It doesn't. Boo-ya! "

I'm interested in what Jaxsons have to say about state, national and global issues. We have bright and witty people in our city and on this site.  I want to hear their thoughts (and mostly their jokes) on Palin.

The endorsement of Palin in support of Trump has done two things.  One is to divide the evangelical vote in the GOP, intended of course to impact Cruz.  The second is that the GOP has managed to take the stupid in their party and parade it right on the front porch for the world to see.  Best worldwide reality T.V. show airing.   :o  I honestly cannot figure out why those that are sane in the GOP have remained so silent and allowed CNN to pimp Trump for ratings while the GOP ticket devolves into a mud wrestling match at every debate.  Honestly, I don't know how they hold their heads up.  I would be having a fit and doing everything in my power to counter the insanity.  The GOP will not recover anytime soom.

The same said about Muskie, Humphrey, McGovern and the Dems live on today. So this too shall pass.

There is a major difference between now and when the folks you mentioned ran for office.  The GOP was not in the serious disarray that it currently is, there was no "Tea Party" and most important there was no internet or social media.  This will like all things pass but the lasting impact will be much greater and more far reaching.  :)

Sarah Palin makes me want to hurl!  How anyone can give any credence to anything she screeches has to be as big a moron as her.  I guess when she says "let's make America great again", she  means, we can all be like Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, and Arkansas if we can elect me and my toothless, ass backward, cronies.  What a joke.  She blames Obama for her children's troubles....and millions agree.

That's certainly an interesting to consider. The Republican party has been taken over by - or at least held hostage by - extremists. I think this might have started when they actively courted the Christian Coalition in the 90s.

The Democrats, however, have never really had extremists in their ranks. They have some social democrats (like Sanders), but very few actual leftists. Those usually end up in other parties (SPUSA, CPUSA) or organizations (DSA) - and they may occasionally endorse a Democratic candidate for office. But the Democratic Party has always been a very centrist party and a party that tends to reflect the middle of American politics - which is probably why they've been (or have continued to be) the larger party for so long.

I just simply disagree.  All of these assignments of voting behavior I find ridiculous as if everyone were automatons and if they fit square "X"  then they will vote for "X".  It totally disregards the individual and their ability to make up their own mind and vote based on their own conscience.

The Democratic "disarray" during the Muskie campaign was exceptional and the major issue if McGovern could garner support from the "fractured" democrats were all over the news at the time. There was plenty of hay made when McGovern got wiped out that much was said about the Democrats "dying" due to their inability to coalesce around him once nominated.
