If there is no question of who the criminal is (for example, they are caught in the act, photographed in the act, etc.), the death penalty should still be used. In such cases, it shouldn't take 15 years to execute either.

I truly appreciate Herb Donaldson's talk on the death penalty. The perspective of the families and loved ones of executed prisoners are not often heard and drawing from his own personal experience with that makes for a more compelling and human approach to the topic.
Even though I strongly oppose the death penalty, I get why some people still want it for their state. But the idea that anyone believes their state having and carrying out the death penalty as some sort of "deterrent" to crime is especially mind-numbingly baffling.
