Thank goodness.

Although I think it's an ugly design, it's still a vast improvement over the current bunker they have now.

Sorry to be the cynical voice, but it's sad when a City of 1,300,000 get's all excited over a community college installing a new front door and hails it as "DEVELOPMENT"... Oh the humanity!

By the way, where the hell is the campus Skyway station Mr. Mayor and Mr. Blaylock?

Ock, it is sad when something that should be considered the norm has become to be unique locally.  By the way, isn't the existing station close enough to be considered a "campus" skyway station?

Its literally across the street.  That's closer than the bus stop at Regency is to the front door of the mall.  It seems like the disconnect comes from a college campus that turns its back to the surrounding environment.  The college could solve this by future expansion on the surface lot along State & Laura with a pedestrian walkway or street that connects the skyway station with Klutho Park.

Yes Lake, the Rosa Parks is across the street and under "normal" situations could be considered the campus station. Our folly of turning State and Union into unmarked freeways makes the entire area a no-mans land.
Toss in homeless missions and young 17-25 year old girls and boys and you have a formula for disaster. Not unlike the close stations at Riverplace and San Marco, I would strongly suggest a link over the streets and perhaps to the back side of the campus with skywalks into the school on one side and Kuthlo area on the other. Complete with a bus loop for the Northside schedules to tie into.

From personal experience, crossing the streets are pretty easy and no more difficult then crossing wide major streets in citys like DC, Chicago and NYC.  I think the major problem probably revolves around the area's image.  There's no visual reason to even want to be on foot there and the guys sleeping on the streets and vacant lots between State & Union don't help.  However, a pedestrian walkway over State probably wouldn't hurt in the long run.  But how many people actually use the skyway to get to FCCJ?

Probably not many because there aren't many college students that can afford to live downtown.

Well Lake that brings us back to square one, how many people use the Skyway?

Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone, JTA NEVER FINISHED IT!

Sort of like the "Time Warp"

like Houdini in the river with a lock he couldn't see

when you think you hit the bottom then you better find the key

like Custer at the Horn when he turned around and said

"when you think you fin'lly got 'em, you're just as good as dead"

like Ponce de Leon speakin' Spanish in the swamp

"I was lookin' for a fountain, but it's water that I want"

like Pike at the top and ev'ry other freak

"I was lookin' for a mountain, I took a little peak"

like Buddah at the sermon when he didn't say a word

if you think you hear a flower, it's a flower that you heard

like da Vinci on the roof with his arm in a sling,

"A man's got the power, but a bird's got the wing"

like Vincent Van Gogh when he chopped off his ear,

"I'd like to give her twenty, but I still gotta hear"

like Crockett at the wall lookin' back to Tennessee,

"the livin' costs you plenty, but the dyin's still for free"

it's a time warp puttin' wrinkles in your skin

it's a rockabilly music make you silly in the end

it's a time warp puttin' circles on your eyes

it's a rockabilly music that's a blessing in disguise
