Beautiful pictures. What a positive event for the city and region. When is the next one?

Thanks. Welcome to the forum. How would you like to bring your camera and sit in the front of a kayak and capture Downtown and Hogans Creek?

What a great photo essay.

I look forward to every event, to see all the people and cars. Living on E10th St, I usually just walk down to Main St with my beach chairs over my shoulder and walk, look, meet people, talk about Springfield to other residents, former residents, and hopefully future residents.

This one single event has done as much for Springfield as anything else that has been tried. And again, great job on the photos.

Well, it seems our great city wants to fleece the organizers of the Cruise with a special events permit. John just wants to call it quits. I'd hold it anyway, F'em.

What would a permit be for exactly?

This month with the Great Race coming down Main Street during the cruise, the band Second Shot would be performing along with special guests guests, original band members from Molly Hatchet. John was trying to secure a stage from the city for the band to play on. This is when things went down hill. Now they want insurance and permits.

It sounds more like a stipulation to cover their butts in case something happens on the stage. I would probably do the same if I was footing the bill for the stage.

I think the best option may be to get with other parties about collectively renting the stage privately instead of including the city. Like I stated in the other thread best coarse of action is to get with businesses to blanket the insurance if that's required. I don't mind gathering partners and funding to pitch in, but people throwing their hands up and quitting is not the right answer. Just my honest opinion.
