Inside the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Tower

After 18 months of construction, Baptist Health will welcome patients to the new $200-million, 11-story facility in December, expanding services offered by Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Wolfson Children's Hospital. Boasting 338,000 square feet of space, the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Tower features state-of-art surgical suites with intra-operative CT and MRI imaging capabilities, one of the first of its kind in North America.  The 167 patient beds are all in private rooms, with more than 300 square feet to allow patients comforting places to heal with their families.  Here is a behind the scenes look behind downtown Jacksonville's newest highrise.

Congratulations to all involved in this positive benefit not only in Jacksonville, the Region but throughout the world. The last picture captures the opportunity that was lost by not saving what had remained of the 1300' OFWB Old Fuller Warren Bridge as a therapeutic rehabilitative piece for any medical recovery.

Impressive, sensible, and (mostly) privately funded.  Compare and contrast with many government guided projects.

Of note. Baptist is a non-profit.

the new Shands at UF Cancer Hospital is pretty nice too (with bias, I would argue better)....and they walk a thin line between being private/non-profit (Sahnds) and public (UF)

"state-of-art surgical suites with intra-operative CT and MRI imaging capabilities, one of the first of its kind in North America."

This is a great thing for health care in Jacksonville, but I think Mayo Jacksonville had intra-operative radiology when their new facility opened in 2008. State of the art, yes...first of its kind in the NA, not so sure.

Between Shands, Baptist and Mayo, the First Coast is one of the best served areas in health care.

I recently had the unexpected "pleasure" of a two night stay here in Weaver Tower! From an aesthetic design standpoint, it is as fantastic as it appears in the pictures! I am completely spoiled but fortunately now recovered and 100% healthy!  ;)
