For those of you wondering about whether or not to take the plunge:

11 of 11 defensive starters are under contract for next year.
Aaron Colvin - nickel corner - is the only FA of the bunch.
The majority of our offense is under contract next year.
The WR position will be the most discussed this offseason, but a great showing by the rookies leave the position in great shape.
Both specialists Nortman (P) and Lambo (K) are under contract for next year.
The coaching staff should remain mostly unchanged as none of our assistants have been interviewing for other positions.

The next few years are going to be special.  Get 'em while you can.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

As an eternal optimist, I've not lurked too often on these boards this season but . . . I read a few pages preceding this and we need to give Blake Freaking Bortles much more love.

He quarterbacked us to a 5-for-5 production of touchdowns in the RedZone against the Steelers.

That.Is.Incredible.

An awful quarterback can't do that in the playoffs, against the Mighty Steelers, in Pittsburgh. Blake, in his first full year in this offense, may deliver a spectacular performance this Sunday as his learning and confidence progression really start to show. Remember, that Pittsburgh game was his first road playoff game. He clearly was super nervous in the Buffalo game. But his confidence has to be very high right now. If he can stay even-keel, the Patriots are in deep trouble defensively.

I think we're going to beat the Patriots, and I think we're going to hurt Tom Brady. The Gator in me says it will be Dante Fowler who breaks him in two. Might not be him, but SOMEBODY is going to do it.

#DUUVAAAL !!!

(Of course, Blake may not be ready for the Belichick test, and there's no shame in that, but I think he is ready)

Hey! I actually think RG made a reasonable comment! Not just reasonable but I think I agree with every word. I DO have a headache right now...not sure if it's related.

It's going to be tough this Sunday.  Jaguars, please don't make it tougher by drawing ridiculous penalties.  15 yards for pointing at a defender!  That's just wrong.  We have 250 to 325 pound athletes colliding at full speed and that is fine.  Point at someone and get a 15 yard penalty.  Stop blocking in the back. Stop the hands to the face.  If you are pushed, don't push back.  The away team is most likely to be called out, and being as it's the lowly Jags against the Patriots, be extra careful.  Don't give the Patriots any extra edge by being called for unneeded penalties.

Also, there's little chance that more than one of the trio of Robinson, Hurns, and Lee is retained.

You don´t think we´ll keep ARob and Hurns? I could see Lee going...but can´t imagine us losing one of our two ´primary´ guys..

Then again, I don´t know crap about cap space or how the finances of a team work!

^ I am pretty certain we will retain ARob.

I think Hurns is unlikely to stay since his salary would be $10 million for this year and he can be let go without much of a cap hit.  Not that I lack affection for Hurns, but he doesn't have the size advantages of ARob or the speed of Cole/Westbrook.  And the Jags are going to need that money (as well as the savings from Ivory and a few others who may be cap casualties, such as Nortman) to upgrade at guard, either retain Colvin or replace him at nickel if he leaves as a free agent, either pay Blake or replace him with a similarly priced quarterback...

Lee, a free agent, might stay if the price is right, because I think his speed makes him more valuable than Hurns.  But I'd expect a team overpays for him.

Sadly, we may see Lewis go as a cap casualty too.  Though he's demonstrated he is still a more than capable blocker, I'm inclined to think the Jags draft a receiving tight end who isn't inept as a blocker and roll with Koyack as the primary blocking TE.

Hurns' cap number isn't $10 million. Also, he is a different WR than Cole/Westbrook. With that said, analystics state that WR/RB are the easiest positions to replace.

Colvin is going to get a big pay day. Teams will overpay for a 26 yr old corner.

I think Lewis will be back but maybe under a re-structured deal.

Looks like Brady is really hurt, so I am loving the Jags here.
Thus, if anyone knows anyone reputable locally who would accept a decent size wager purely for entertainment purposes (I am not winking, I have grapefruit juice in my eye), please pm me. (not a fan of online betting for entertainment).

I am sure Brady will play.

But I don't think you can ignore that he missed practice on Thursday.

I don't know the Jaguars game plan on defense. But I don't think it will be to NOT hit Brady on his right hand. Maybe a nice Ngakoue slap on that hand is in the works.

What other possibility are you thinking....an opposing player infiltrated their practice?

^LOL. Hurt by the equipment manager who forgot to let the air out of the balls.

Of course Brady will play. And obviously isnt too affected, otherwise they would've brought in another QB. They aren't worried about it.
