I think you mislabeled two of the pictures.  The ones labeled LaVilla Medical Partners should be labeled Duval County Jail Annex.

The architect should be put before a firing squad.

That's Ted Pappas' project.  Are you saying your not impressed by how the urban Prairie School throwback design meets the street?  Let's not forget, that thing was also approved by the DRC.

I assume you're talking about the screening of the parking on the first floor....while not ideal, its far better than a surface lot would have been!

I'm glad to see the Winn Dixie renovations underway.

Are those windows I see at 20 West Adams?!?!!  Things are actually progressing.

does anyone know what is going on with the shipyards riverfront?  i know the condo plan is out, but are they really going to do something in terms of a park there (i see the meissner marine cranes out there working fairly regularly). is there a timeframe for completion?  will there still be anyone restaurants/shopping constructed as part of this??

thanks in advance for any info.

They may just be doing bulkhead work.  I think they are still moving forward on the riverwalk expansion and pier, but no retail/restaurants will be a part of this.

Ted Pappas is a real nice guy and a Riverside native, but he is a horrendously bad architect.  I like how he tacked on the prairie style accents on the top (albeit in a cheaply done way) but how about adding some detail on the rest of the building.  Also, try not using the absolute cheapest construction techniques and materials you can.  Finally, why even have a review committee for downtown architecture if garbage like this that doesnt interact at all with the street is allowed??  This guy, BTW, was the beneficiary of one of the Lavila land giveaways wherein the City "fathers" gave him the land dirt cheap.  Meanwhile, other developers are refused City land at any price elsewhere in Lavilla.  Good work Pappas and COJ.   ::)

I believe that they are still working it. I don't believe that the condo project is out. I think it was only postponed for the time being until the residential market goes back up again. I don't think that Landmar would ever forget about the restaurant/ retail part of the plan. I know they got to put something there beside the public pier and the park. 8)

I hope you're right.  However, the condo tower was the first phase and the retail/restaurant space was supposed to be at the base of the tower.  Since it was a component, if the tower is postponed, then the retail would have to be too.
