I was down that way last year and took some great pictures. I was very impressed how great it all looked. Of course Hollis Gardens is gorgeous.

Jacksonville has a number of areas that could be far better than the Mirror Lake area, but we have not successfully utilized private involvement.  With the number of wealthy families we have in this city, there should at least be something to show for it.

Another donation for Lake Mirror Park.....

Eight-Foot Swan Sculpture Will Grace Overlook Park in Downtown Lakeland

Quote
LAKELAND | An 8-foot bronze sculpture of the city's signature bird will be built at Overlook Park off Main Street.

An anonymous donor is providing the money for the $200,000 sculpture of a mother swan and two cygnets.

Bill Tinsley, director of parks and recreation for the city, said Monday that the sculpture should be built by the end of the year.

"We would love to have a significant Christmas gift to the city of Lakeland," Tinsley said.

City commissioners voted 6-0 on Monday to accept the donation.
