Hastings remains the primary packing and shipping center for the region's potato growing area. The small town is surrounded by thousands of acres dedicated to farming and agricultural uses.

The Old Florida Antique Museum is an eclectic private museum owned by Hastings farmer Tommy Lee. The main building is the former Hastings railroad depot. Lee relocated the depot to its current site to avoid it being demolished.

Lee's museum also includes a 1942 Piper Cub.

Hastings is located 18 miles southwest of St. Augustine on SR 207.
