Located on the westside of Jacksonville, AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center is a first class, master planned multimodal business park being developed by Hillwood Investment Properties. Prior to life as a business center, the 4,474-acre site served as Naval Air Station (NAS) Cecil Field.

The Jacksonville Bridgestone Distribution Center began operations in June of 2008. With a capacity of 1.3 million tires ranging from passenger and light truck to commercial truck tires and agricultural use tires, this center supplies tires and automotive parts to Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina and Alabama. In addition, the distribution center also supplies the entire United States with imports from Latin America and the Eastern half of the United States with tires from Europe, Japan and other Asian countries. The facility is located in the Cecil Field Industrial Center. The Jacksonville facility is the largest Bridgestone distribution center in the country at over 1 million square feet. -

Saft America is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced technology batteries for industrial and defence applications. The Group is implementing its strategy for high technology lithium-ion batteries in the renewable energy storage, transportation and telecommunication networks markets.

Construction is progressing on a new 300,000 square foot distribution hub for FedEx Ground.

Florida State College at Jacksonville has two locations in the Cecil area, one in a hangar on the airfield and the other just north of the hangar on property owned by the City of Jacksonville. In the hangar is FSCJ’s FAA-certified Part 147 program where students train to become Airframe and Powerplant mechanics. The curriculum also includes avionics and airport operations and management. Students have access to numerous hands-on mock-ups, models, and actual aircraft and airplane engines on the hangar bay. The complex on city property, houses the school’s state-of-the-art air traffic control training center.

In addition, the college has constructed an Aircraft Services Educational Facility. This 131,000 square foot hangar/classroom facility is a public-private venture.  The college trains students on aircraft coating and the facility is used by Flightstar to paint and provide MRO activities.

Located at Cecil’s largest hangar, Flightstar specializes in maintenance, repair and overhaul of various types of heavy aircraft. They service multiple types of commercial aircraft including DC-10, MD-11, DC-9, MD-80, B-727, B-737 and B-757 aircraft. Federal Express currently contracts with Flightstar for provision of Phase maintenance checks on its fleet of B-757 aircraft. Various air cargo companies contract with Flightstar to convert passenger air carrier aircraft into a cargo configuration.

A leading provider of heavy maintenance and repair services to the commercial aviation companies like FedEx, Delta and Southwest, Flightstar currently employs 915. An additional 300 will be hired once the company completes its expansion to a third large hangar. Once that hangar opens the company will be able to serve an additional four to six planes and increase capacity by 40 percent.
