Downtown Jacksonville: The Exclusion ZoneJune 27, 2007 17 comments Print Article
After 40 years of downtown revitalization, hundreds of millions of dollars expended, and politicians continuously touting their successes in urban renewal; today Downtown Jacksonville, LaVilla specifically, looks striking similiar to the site of the worlds worst nuclear accident: Chernobyl.
So much so, that in some places they are indistinguishable. Can you tell which photos were shot in Jacksonville and which were taken in Chernobyl?
This is the sad reality of a succession of city administrations that, with their misguided land use and urban development policies, have lead this city down this path of destruction.
It's time to reverse this trend. It's time that Jacksonville live up to it's potential stop making excuses as to why great things can't happen here.
