Dane Baird has graciously taken on fund raising for the car wash
appeal. He is asking if people could please contribute $25 to help
fight this threat to our overlay. If all of you could please forward
this to anyone you think might be interested it would be greatly
appreciated. If you would like to contribute, just shoot me an email
and I will be glad to come by and pick up the checks.

Thanks,

Lisa Simon

These evil people will stop at nothing to destroy this man's business and investment.  In the process they are killing the neighborhood.

I hope that the new board members have enough integrity to resign if they cant put a stop to this.

this is a bald faced lie, and whoever is claiming that the overlay is threatened by a business opening with a permitted use should apologize.

The overlay was more threatened by the multiple PUD changes to the zoning for uses which actually are not permitted by the overlay that have been given to SPAR board members.

How much do appeals cost or is this money for a lawyer / consultant?

I thought that the zoning people had green lighted Mr Jones for his business? As to the new Board members having any say in things..............I would say "NOT"! It bothers me that an organization with only 140+ members can control, or atleast try , an area of 5000 people! Something is wrong with this picture!

Joey the money is for an attorney and court costs.

Weve been aware that this was happening since Monday, but someone sent a copy of the actual email from Lisa Simon.  (Who should be ashamed of herself.)

There is absolutely no sensationalism needed for this matter at all...

It's sad to see this back door maneuvering to get this approval reversed, especially after speaking to many of the people involved, who were singing a much different tune a couple weeks ago.

I'm sure there has been contact with Silas, telling him to move forward at his own risk because SPAR would be appealing, thereby potentially saving him money by not moving forward with what was approved until the appeal is resolved, right?  There has to have been contact made, that personal decency exists, I'm sure. He's only spent over $400,000, what's a few more dollars....

But Jason, at their request, He was put under a time limit with which to comply.  They made him promise in front of God and everyone that he would get started immediately.

So much for this sentiment, I guess.

Actually it was 105 signatures collected in person, in 2 days, all listing their addresses, phone number or email address.
98 of the 105 are homeowners living in Historic Springfield and 28 are homeowners living within two blocks of the carwash.
The 13 people speaking in opposition are all residents of Springfield with several of them living within two blocks of the carwash.
In comparison the support side had 59 signatures collected since November over the internet (how many are homeowners or even residents is anyones guess).
Of the 8 people who spoke in support, 3 are Springfield residents and only one lives near the carwash.
When all was said and done though, Mr. Jones won the vote and I congratulate him and will hope for the best. I honestly hope you guys are right and things turn out well because there will be no reward in his failure

Just got off of the phone with Silas, the appeal has been submitted. He found out about it while talking with planning and HPC about the next steps, which is obviously backwards at this point.
