Urban Facelift Project at Springfield Area Merchants and Business & Association meeting

Quote
We’re looking forward to presenting the Urban Facelift Project tomorrow night, Thursday July 9th, at the Springfield Area Merchants and Business Association (SAMBA).  It’s our hope that Springfield area business owner’s can use the Urban Facelift Project to visualize what their storefronts and buildings can be with an affordable commissioned virtual facelift.

For clients that are looking for a down and dirty and very cost effective visualization of ideas to help with the “curb appeal” of their home or business we offer the virtual facelift.  The virtual facelift would show what the structure looks like presently and then give an interpretation of what the project would look like with design elements we think would add value both aesthetically and financially to the residence or commercial building.

For business owner’s unable to commission someone for this service at this time we’ll also be giving an introduction to Google’s free Sketchup program along with a quick lesson on how to import a photograph of their current building using Sketchup’s PhotoMatch tool.  This tool allows them to model and see what their building would look like with material/color changes and the addition of signage and other elements.  Essentially allowing them to do their own Urban Facelift Project.

A brief mission statement from SAMBA’s website:

The mission of SAMBA is to enable the Springfield neighborhood to be the most convenient, clean and safe place in Jacksonville to live, work and play.

Additionally, we aim to utilize Springfield’s aesthetic character and proximity north of the downtown core to attract day and night time shoppers, cultural and entertainment enthusiasts, patients, residents and tourists from all over the world.

The meeting, which will run from 6pm-7pm, will be held at SPAR Council's office at 1321 North Main Street.  This will be a great meeting for anyone looking for affordable ideas to improve their property.  Both commercial and residential.

Yea! Content Design Group has already done UFP'ed 3 locations on Main St and a 4th on Orange. SPAR is in the midst of streetscape planning to work with some of the corridor's building owners on "curb appeal" improvements.

We had a great time presenting the Urban Facelift Project at the SAMBA meeting last night.  Had a nice little crowd of about 15 people. Thanks to SAMBA for extending the invitation, and we think there are some exciting thoughts and movements shaping up revitalizing Springfield's Main Street corridor.

It was a good presentation.  I wish you hadn't mentioned that Sketchup was a free program, though.  I went home, downloaded same and spent the rest of the evening pulling my hair out trying to figure it out.  You guys make it look easy!

^ Thanks, we're going to hopefully get better with these presentations as we do them, but it was great to be able to present UFP for SAMBA.

Although we touched a little bit on the basics of starting a photomatch in SketchUp, we certainly didn't get to cover much at all in the meeting.  The videos on Sketchup's website are great and we used them quite a bit when we first started. You should be able to pick it up pretty quickly, its a very user friendly program, just takes some getting used to.

Good Luck!
