Commuter rail now

Stopped in traffic northbound on 95 between emerson and the Fuller warren. I guess an accident on the Main street exit was the cause. I am thinking is just a sample of what years of overland bridge construction is going to cause. What a great time to get commuter rail on track.
So I think we should brainstorm on how to get the word out not about the how but the why. Now the people at MetroJacksonville.com have done the hard work of this great resource to explain it all. We just need to get more people here. Especially people who will be upset, scared or frustrated about the impending traffic from the overland bridge project. My thought as I sat in traffic staring at the same billboard for five minutes was you guessed it
1) billboard it would require some fund raising.
Traffic coming 10 years of construction
put commuter rail on the parallel tracks now

That was no "normal" accident, that was the perfect storm of accidents, with a "paint" truck hitting a police car on the side of the road, it veered into traffic causing an ambulance, with patient(s) to overturn. This all happened at the off ramp to the Main and Acosta bridges, so naturally that was blocked from late morning until your posted time, 2:30 pm, according to the TU.
Rarely does a crash of that magnitude happen.

Yes and not to downplay the accident but that kind of all day traffic could be on it's way for years. Construction will be all day long and many nights as well.
A perfect spot to put a warning to our community that now is the time to act. Commuter rail studies happening. Hopefully some improvements funded by Amtrak. The ingredient we lack is enough public support by our leaders and community at large. This is how tri-rail started to mitigate construction traffic. Maybe we could capture some momentum from this impending traffic.
I hope everyone is OK after the accident.

I went by the site of the accident and it must have been one heck of an accident scene, the pavement had skid marks all over the 3 lanes of traffic and I am thankful no one was killed.
Reminded me of when the tanker carrying black paint spilled on 95N, just north of Emerson, we had black paint on the highway for months!
