Congratulations to Jack Meeks, one of the principals of Meeks Ross and Associates, who has been appointed to the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission by Mayor John Peyton.

Jack will bring a quiet thoughtful and genteel voice of empowerment to the beleaguered commission, the appointment should become official today.

I don't personally know much about Mr. Meeks...what kind of a voice will he be?  Progressive and visionary or just another body nodding yes?  What has he spoken for or against in recent years?  I wish him luck and look forward to his contributions to JEDC.

Hes a solid guy.  I would categorize him in the progressive/visionary column with a strong streak of pragmatism.

He is one of the only people to serve on the JEDC that has actually taken part in a developing neighborhood during its change agent process.

He was a surprise pick but the choice seems to indicate that the Mayor is actually thinking about the right issues.

I have only briefly met Jack.  From everything I have been told about him he will be a great asset to JEDC.  Kudos to Mayor Peyton for appointing him.
