Dallas Moore's NBA Journey
« on: June 10, 2017, 11:51:59 PM »
UNF's Dallas Moore's is still in the hunt for a role in the NBA as he progresses through the pre-draft assessments.

After surprising many with his performance at the Portsmouth Invite, he has been traveling through the various camps, tryouts, workouts to prove his value.

The last team to bring him in for a workout was the Denver Nuggets this week. He appears to be behind UCLA's TJ Leaf on the overall interest meter in Denver.

He now heads to the IMG Pre-Draft Camp for yet more assessments.  As we saw with his former teammate Beau Beech, he will no doubt face yet more workouts, tryouts and lookovers.

There are still many scouts in the NBA that doubt his capabilities at this level but he just seems to keep proving himself.

While the stats look great, many scouts feel his 2000 plus points in college only happened because he played in the ASun. If he had played in a Power 5, his stats would not have been so gaudy. I guess it's time to prove em wrong.

Hopefully he will make a G League squad and can position himself for a chance.

Dallas just completed workouts this week with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets.

His recent workout with the Denver Nuggets was considered a success.

Looks like Dallas has joined the Nuggets for the NBA Summer League. If he can stay in the top 2 or 3 for his team in summer play he has a great shot of signing for G League play.

Until today Dallas Moore had played a whole 3 minutes and had scored 5 points in a earlier blowout loss so far this season in NBA Summer League play.

After the Nuggets upset Houston in the league playoffs, they played the Nets and were promptly blown out once again.

But it was different this time. Dallas came on and played 15 minutes down 20 and scored 7 on a 3 pointer and 2 of his patented arching shots in the lane.

While it was exciting to see Dallas in action again on TV today, its clear that by playing only when his team is down 20+ that the Nuggets are not fully up on him.

I really do think he could do well in D League play, but based on how the Nuggets used him, I see an overseas league for now.

No doubt he is fun to watch.

He will make more money overseas than the G League (Gatorade rebranded the name).

Per UNF Sports:

http://www.unfospreys.com/news/2017/7/17/mens-basketball-dallas-moore-inks-pro-contract-with-italys-vuella-pesaro.aspx

Dallas Moore Inks Pro Contract with Italy's Vuella Pesaro

JACKSONVILLE -- Former North Florida basketball standout Dallas Moore begins his professional playing career in mid-August after signing a one-year contract to join Vuella Pesaro of the Italian League.

Moore, who as the team's all-time leading scorer and most decorated player in UNF program history, signed with Pesaro, a first division team in Italy, following a solid showing at the recently concluded NBA Las Vegas Summer League season. He closed summer league play with the Denver Nuggets scoring 16 points in 19 minutes against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The two-time ASUN Player of the Year and a three-time All-ASUN selection, Moore completed an historic four-year career with the Ospreys that included back-to-back Atlantic Sun Conference titles and a pair of national postseason tournament appearances. In addition, Moore twice garnered NABC All-District 1st-team honors, AP All-American honorable mention and Lou Henson Award Finalist status. He finished his career ranked as the UNF program leader in scoring (2,437), FGM (904), FGA (1870), Assists (551), Games Played (135) and Games Started (135). Moore also finished second all-time in scoring in the ASUN and ended his career as the all-time leading scorer for the state of Florida Division I programs.

As a senior, Moore led the ASUN in scoring at 23.9 points per game and ended the year ranked 4th nationally in scoring. He also set a new single season scoring record for the ASUN and UNF with 812 points this year. Moore reached double figures in 33 of 34 games played this season including 21 games with 20 or more and 10 with more than 30 points. He scored a career best 39 against Lipscomb during the regular season and added 37 versus the Bisons in the ASUN Tournament semifinals. He also led the league in three-pointers made and was listed among the conference leaders in assists and steals.

SAY WHAT...
"Throughout his playing career, Dallas has consistently been asked to prove himself but the reality is that he is and always has been a 'Baller', no matter what team uniform he has worn. He is the classic example of a winner who embraces every opportunity with work and effort. Dallas knows and understands to just do his best and control what he can control. We have shared many times with him that basketball studies have shown that players usually peak around 27-years old so his game is only going to get better. This continued growth and improvement will allow him to be even more prepared for his next opportunity. We are excited to see him earn this first professional contract and looking forward to following his success and growth as a player and person." -- Head coach Matthew Driscoll

Italian league will be good for him I guess. Maybe he will develop more there. It is better than the d-league that's for sure. I wish him well.

Another former Osprey from the 2015-16 NCAA qualifying team has signed a pro contract.

That now makes 3 former Ospreys playing some form of professional basketball.

Demarcus Daniels (Nässjö Basket Green - Sweden A League)

Well, another Osprey signs a pro contract in Europe. Chris Davenport.

http://www.unfospreys.com/news/2017/8/11/mens-basketball-chris-davenport-signs-with-pro-team-in-italy.aspx

Its an A2 League so he will be playing down one level from Dallas Moore.

Chris blew some people away at the IMG Pro Combine when he beat everyone in the vertical leap.

When used correctly, he can be a great asset to any team.  Here is hoping he does well in Italy.

UNF has to be pretty pleased to have 4 guys go pro at ANY level. Should help recruiting in a big way.
