The NCAA on Tuesday awarded a Division I men’s basketball regional to Jacksonville for 2019, the fourth time since 2006 that the city has been a part of March Madness.

The city hosted early-round NCAA basketball tournament games in 2006, 2010 and 2015 at the Veterans Memorial Arena.

I'm happy to see that we are in the regular rotation with this event.

Looks like the same press release. Maybe they're co-hosting?

The JU release seems to be more clear they are co hosting the basketball with the Jax Sports Council and specifically states UNF will be hosting the track and field.  To me th UNF release seems a bit vague with regard to it all.   Also Alan Verlander's twitter account has the tweet from JU stating they will be the host of basketball tourney and nothing regarding UNF.  I realize past ties to JU, but as head of Jaxsports I would think if UNF also part of basketball bid it would,be noted there too. Additionally, the JaxSports Council twitter account seems to indicate basketball hosted by JU and Track and Field hosted by UNF.

All it really means is that the JU Dolphin will be on one side of the court and the UNF Osprey will be on the other.

Since the NCAA brings in their own wood for the NCAA playoffs, they apply a decal for the host team at the end of the court.

I believe that UNF doesn't want to be an official host because that would disqualify them from being selected to the site if they made the tournament. This is why you will never see a big basketkall school hosting a tournament site.

Verlander on 1010XL yesterday clearly said JU was the host for the basketball event.

Yeah, that is wrong. In 2021, the University of Kentucky is hosting the first round at Rupp, NC State is hosting in Raleigh, Wichita State is hosting, and Providence in Rhode Island.

Here is the list of tournament sites and hosts: http://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2017-04-18/2019-2022-future-di-ncaa-championship-sites

JU is the host. Not sure why UNF is trying to claim otherwise.

My "never" should have been "rarely".
