One location that has not been considered is the Prime Osborne. That entire facility could be converted into a transportation museum, including the Maritime Museum. The visibility of the building from I-95 makes the Prime Osborne center the perfect gateway to the city and Florida. It's proximity to the river, especially by developing access via McCoys Creek, would bring river use activities farther south to the Brooklyn area. The Prime Osborne could be the best Visitors Center location in the model of the old terminal in Savanna, with the Trolley Tours leaving and returning by the fountain roundabout. The building is already there and under used. Even with the debt that comes with that facility, I believe that the total transportation museum and visitors center concept can happen for less money than some of the other proposals. Food for thought. Thank You, James Minion - "Minion means Service"

That is a good idea, but i think as it is a maritime museum, it should be directly on the st. johns. the best location would be friendship fountain, as it would create a friendly park that will be right in the heart of downtown, and eventually when downtown is built up more, friendship park will be one of the famous city parks of the usa. The shipyards is an ok idea, but there isnt much room, and it still seems like settling compared to friendship. however, the decomissioned naval vessel is a grand idea, but it really wouldnt be breathable and fun for kids. riverside avenue seems out of the question to me as it is so far away from the heart of downtown (for walkers), and it seems like all jacksonville ever does is spread itself thin.
