I'd certainly like #4 to put down my fire.

I'm glad to see that all they got was a letter of rep.. but these guys and gals are certainly going to have to be careful as progressive discipline can hurt if they have any future indiscresions.  Hopefully they earned a good bit of $$ for Bishop's family to soften the blow...

And nice to know that there are few police officers out there that are fat as donuts (Disclaimer: NOT all of them).

I do not believe they lost their jobs, there were 6 of them in all, and they all received letters of repremand in their folders, but not firings.

Do what you want on your downtime, just don't wear city issued items when pole dancing.  My only issue.

Considering all the issues the JFRD has had in the past (nooses come to mind), if a bit of harmless striptease is the most we have to worry about these days, then we're doing okay  8)

Kind of prudish, but I get your drift, I think.   ::)

Was their gear being put in any danger while gyrating?  I don't think the city issued the boxers the dudes were wearing.  Obviously, #4 left her JFRD shirt at home, did she only receive half a letter of reprimand?

Let me ask you this, do the cops and firefighters wear their city issued gear to the annual Guns & Hoses?  'nuf said.

I agree. It's a clever idea. If someone had made a movie about it (like "The Full Monty" or "Calendar Girls"), we'd all be singing a different tune.

I bet there were quite a few Baptist preachers in the crowd that night.

#4 is a real sinner. She needs to have hands laid on her :D & be prayed over  :P until she is SAVED.

unfortunately the Brass care - anyone who wears any kind of Federal/State/County/City uniform has a code of conduct that they are expected to adhere to.. This is the kind of situation where it is a real biotch - this was not a malicious or nefarious intent situation, in fact - quite the opposite... which is why they probably only got the letter of rep instead of a suspension or something more permanent...

I am glad that they made a good bit of money for the family and in the future various Departments will have to be more careful with fund raisers because of the lesson learned by these guys and gals - next time wear street clothes and accessorize differently!

That is a sanctioned event between the two unions, police and fire. There is a difference between that great event and strip teasing for a few bucks at a place that is Hooters with a different name on it. If we hold the police and fire employees to such a high standard, then we expect better than strip teasing with a pole between their legs. As role models in the public, we expect better. If you would rather your public safety personnel act as if they are at the Gold Club, then you are disillusioned over public safety and I would get more interaction from a trash can. So I will not waste any more carbon monoxide on you. I have many friends in both and they would argue the same points. Many were disgusted with the pictures and use of the uniform in such poor taste and piss poor judgement.

I do, and so do others, why else would this have been a front page issue? Imagine if these same people used poor judgement in trying to save a life as well, because of their other poor decisions, would you think less or more of them? Its not prudish to want to hold your heroes in a higher regard. Otherwise, we should hire anyone to be in the Poe-leese and any swinging chap could double as a Chippendale dancer and fireman.  We should think less of the people who save lives, if it also used for cheap gags. Nice.
