Well, that's not the Skipper Ed show I remember, and that wasn't Ed McCullers (thank goodness). Was this clip from the "New Skipper Ed Show" from 1987 or later? When you said Skipper Ed from the 70s I was expecting a clip from his Popeye and Pals kids show that I remembered from the late 60s / early 70s. Any clips from that w/Skipper Ed himself?

Quote
"Skipper Ed" McCullers hosted two children's shows in Jacksonville. The first was called Popeye & Pals, which first aired in 1959, when TV-12 was WFGA. When TV-12 was WTLV, The Skipper Ed Show ran until the '80s. Both shows featured Popeye the Sailor cartoons and children from the community making up a live, on-camera audience.

Also at the above link is this about Ranger Hal (I went to Bishop Kenny with his son who is quoted in the article):

Quote
Henry Baranek (aka Henry Baran) was Ranger Hal for a show of the same name that first aired in 1958 on WJXT TV-4. He had many adventures. From driving around Daytona Speedway with a ranger hat on top of his helmet to water skiing with bathing beauties at Cypress Gardens, Ranger Hal was always fun. He also provided "how-to" segments on crafts, Crusader Rabbit cartoons, and had visiting audiences of nicely dressed children from the area.

I recall that one of the local children's show hosts received a bomb threat when he integrated his program.  Does anyone remember this?

What ever happened to the Watchdog? You have to respect a middle man that is willing to go on local television dressed like a dog with a plastic mask on and glasses over it.

Bring back Fox 30's Safari Sam!

I imagine his website would be a good place to start...

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

This video is from the 80s.  Tim Deegan didn't come to channel 12 until the early 80s.  And the guy in the video mentions Lee Webb, who wasn't an anchor there until 1985 or 1986.  Think I also heard him mention Jeannie Blaylock, who arrived on the scene at WTLV in 1985.

Jimmy is right.  You can also tell by the set design and the station logo.  I remember that logo from the mid-1980s.
