anyone thought about contacting local news stations to see if they'll air this "spot" as news of citizens using internet psa to stand up to goverment? someone at news stations might know how to spin it for local news interest...
also needs to be posted on youtube if it isn't already (i'd suggest "jacksonville brt" heading).
maybe jct would air it as a psa? it would need non-profit status, tho.

Nice Video. I love the song (MIA-paper planes), and especially the remix. I can't see how the JTA officials are continuing to overlook the much lower cost of rail transit. We just need to keep making noise, they'll listen eventually.

There are some at JTA who really want rail, others who plan to study rail, all of whom believe they'll get a fair shake. Sorry Captain, but the creature behind JTA is blind to RAIL, (it's a four letter word you know). Check out the 1983 study in the JCCI thread, guess who put in the data then? Same "AUTHORITY", Different date! These experts will still be parroting the same lines. Time for a Transit Revolution, no more highway builders in Mass Transit! Give JTA the choice, be the builder of roads, or be the transit agency, but not both.

Those are great videos guys. For my purist Americana Trolley ideals, those Australian streetcars have about the ugliest most homely faces that I have EVER seen. It's almost criminal ugly in the first degree! However, they are still superior to any bus ever made.
The videos do answer some tech questions that several have wondered about. YES, streetcars CAN do hills, as good as buses going up, and better coming down (where buses tend to lose traction...such as the Matthews in the rain). The "bus tunnel" at Pioneer Square, is the old Interurban Railway tunnel under downtown. Note that the buses that ply this tunnel and the downtown core are electric trolley buses. Another area that JTA is blind, is electric downtown shuttle buses. There are even new, wireless electric's which get recharged from pavement implanted devices that keep them rolling all day. POLLUTION FREE! Some have spoken of subways in Jacksonville, our City has many underground tunnels, but no subway. I don't think the core is really busy enough to have a tunnel system for transit in our lifetimes. Though it COULD be done, it's WAY too expensive. Seattle got theirs for free plus restoration costs (which included relaying rail in it long ago).

i have a dream that one day i will logon to metrojacksonville.com and they won't be talking about BRT and Light Rail or any other form of transportation on the main page. Is this really the only thing going on in Jacksonville any more? What did we talk about before the buses and trains killed this site from being interesting? I'm not asking that you stop your heated discussions on mass transit, but does it really have to be the only topic we see any more.... Maybe a crazy article or two from Stephen Dare can wake this site back up. haha.
All I know is if I logon tomorrow and see one more bus or train.........................

Feel free to submit a guest article on a topic you feel we maybe overlooking. I'll make sure it gets uploaded as a feature article. Even if its about why we should not address mass transit.

So sorry hightower lover, does the fact of $1,200 in new development for every dollar invested in Light Rail equate to anything high-rise? Only time will tell... Meanwhile I'll keep plugging for Trolleys.

We don't know how JTA is taking the message, but these type of things are strong messages for downtown business owners, visitors, residents and city officials. Its little things like this that help reign in more people pushing to save downtown's core streets from the proposed busway plan.
