Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
It's too bad these stores aren't going downtown instead.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
it's almost getting big enough that they need a people-move of some sort. otherwise, they're going to have people parking at one end and driving to the other and backing up their parking-lot traffic. perhaps a rail-trolley could be useful.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
The Louisiana Boardwalk shopping center in Shreveport, less than half the size of the St. Johns Town Center, includes a small streetcar line to run shoppers from one end to the other. Anyway, I can't see why Ben Carter would pay for such a thing when shoppers will just drive from one end of the center to the other if they don't want to walk.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
they would take it if it were free and easier than driving. i'd definitely take it, but i like to leave my car behind when i go anywhere.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
Something like the pic above would be awesome and get a lot of use. But it won't happen.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
It won't happen because it would cost the developer money. There aren't many of them in the business of losing money.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
if only the business of losing money made money, then everyone would be doing it.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
That is where city planners would step in and require some sort of transit option for developments of that scale. Eventually that plan can be enlarged to connect other points of interest via a regional transportation system. A little vison, that's all it takes.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
I'd imagine the rain has set them back a week or two. My guess would be mid November.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
October 26th has been the Grand Opening date for a little while, but it doesn't look like all of the stores will be ready. I know urban outfitters, abercrombie, and a couple others will for sure be open on the 26th.

Wow, what a surprise that someone went there; Everytime something is not built in DT, it's a blight in this city; Gotcha. Hey guys, I'm back, and I'm ready to raise some hell

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
any clue as to why some of the buildings in those pictures appear to have a second story?

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
Isn't part of the draw of SJTC 'luxury'? I would think being taken from place to place would fit in with the theme of the mall. Regardless, I agree they wouldn't pay for it and even if they wanted to, I doubt they would take up road space to lay tracks.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
Yay! I'm so excited that a Louis Vuitton is coming to Jacksonville, I have waited sooo long for this. I actually feel like Jacksonville is moving up now!!! But a Kitson in Jacksonville would be nice too!

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
Maybe to blend in with phaseIII when the upscale department stores are built.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
It looks like the building in picture 3 will actually have two floors of retail. Many of the buildings are two stories tall but only have shopping on the first, but I don't think this one is that way.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
Some of the larger Pottery Barn stores, Crate and Barrell stores do have two and three stores. I doubt this will be the case the SJTC. It's probably more for looks than anything.

Re: St. Johns Town Center II Photo Update
looks like our tenant list beat the TU by a few weeks. A few of these stores were mentioned on the forums over a month ago (Aerie, Metropark).
By DIANA MIDDLETON, The Times-Union
The St. Johns Town Center's second phase is still under construction, but shoppers' wait for the slew of new shops will be over within just a few weeks.
Representatives from Simon Properties released a full list of the phase's retailers for the final phase Wednesday. Most of the tenants have been reported by the Times-Union, but there are a few new names in the mix, including:
- Juicy Couture, a celebrity favorite known for its terry cloth track suits
- Aerie, an offshoot of teen retailer American Eagle
- Lululemon, an athletic wear shop
- True Religion, an upscale denim retailer
- Metropark, a trendy youth-oriented shop
The Times-Union also got a sneak peek at the construction of new phase Wednesday morning. For photos and a full list of retailers, pick up a copy of the Times-Union tomorrow.
