Many newspapers have started the practice of charging a fee to search their archives and retrieve old articles. The Florida Times-Union is charging $2.95 for individual articles. To view the complete article, you must click on the headline in the results list. You will be asked to register as a new user or sign-in as an existing user. Payment is by credit card. Here is how to do it for free. All you need is a Jacksonville Public Library Card. Fantastic! This has been bugging me for a few weeks. Particularly the stupid lack of a flat-rate subscription option. I would have been willing to pay a flat $5 or $10 a month for this service, but the $3 per article charge was just too much.
But free works out even better...
