Thursday, 28 December 2006

With 1661 Riverside's construction process, rapidly coming to an end, one can clearly see the attention paid to detail, by Midland Development and the design team of Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Richard Skinner and The Auchter Company. When complete, 1661 Riverside will add 90 multi-family units, adjoining street level retail shops and a parking garage in the heart of the vibrant Five Points District.

my only complaint is the color of the brick.  it's too light, and doesn't match the brick of the shopping center across the street from it.

outsides get dirty quick

Just look at the Wachovia building (formerly the Southtrust Building), after a few years of grime and dust and sun, the outside won't matter, it will dull soon enough.

Can't wait for 1661 to open finally. Sure would like to see a before picture of the old site, and former police sub station, and then one to now.

Concern

Due to construction initially falling behind schedule, the crews really had to pick up the pace as of recently.  i talked with an owner of one of the units and she said that they cut corners in order to meet the construction deadline.  I too think that some of the more recent details added fail to impress like the initial elements did.
