AmerisBank Ready to Put Its Mark on JacksonvilleSeptember 1, 2015 3 comments Print Article
AmerisBank was founded as American Banking Company in Moultrie, GA in 1971. With $5.4 billion in assets, Ameris Bank has 104 branch locations in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Florida. In 2005, the American Banking Company rebranded to Ameris Bank.
With a mission to be a major financial service provider through empowered employees creating a positive community impact and delivering a competitive shareholder return, AmerisBank has decided to move its executive headquarters to downtown's Riverplace Tower.
Last month, the bank signed a lease for roughly 35,000 square feet of space in Riverplace Tower. By January 1, 2016, it will relocate its Moultrie-based executive team to the Southbank, resulting in 40 additional downtown employees.
AmerisBank views its move to downtown as being strategically significant for the bank's continued growth and expansion.
With a footprint of five southeastern states and 104 banking and mortgage service locations, the visibility of the AmerisBank in Jacksonville's skyline is considered to be paramount to brand recognition as the bank builds its customer base and recruits additional bankers to its team.
With this in mind, the bank is making plans to place its name on the top of the iconic building, giving it prominent visibility in the city's skyline. Formerly known as the Gulf Life Tower, River Place Tower was built in 1966 for the Gulf Life Insurance Company. At the time, it was the city's defining landmark and the state's tallest building.
In addition to downtown Jacksonville becoming AmerisBank's executive headquarters, the bank's location operations also include an 120 employee administrative and operations center in Baymeadows and 30 employees at 12 branch locations across the city.
