McDonald's/Family Dollar
Warren Motors has relocated to Brentwood to allow for the redevelopment of the State Street automobile dealership property into a McDonald's Restaurant and Family Dollar. This week demolition permits were issued to allow for the construction of McDonald's and Family Dollar to proceed. The $3.7 million project is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
Duval County Courthouse
Work still remains on the conversion of the old US Post Office into the State Attorney's Office.
The Jacksonville Landing
The Landing newest tenants will be Pierre's Pizza and River City Tattoo.
Northbank Riverwalk Extension
Construction is complete on the one block extension of the Northbank Riverwalk to East Bay Street.

I've noticed dozens from Washington and Beaver all the way down to behind the Casket Factory and Jacksonville Historical Society. Hopefully there won't be demolition to habitat.
Three of us made a scene last week before the Jags game and caught about 20 fish under the brand new No Fishing Signs that was never before Waterways. Artificial Reef subcommittee meeting of the Jacksonville Waterways Commission Oct. 3. At 9:30 at city hall.

September 28, 2012, 10:13:07 AMThey are renovating existing space and adding some new space- a new cafeteria I think. You can read about it from the construction company site. Supposedly it will be LEED certified which is pretty cool.

September 28, 2012, 01:05:23 PMAnd looking at most of the sidewalks in the core, I ask myself; (and now, all of you on this site) Would it be so bad if the sidewalks went all the way to the curb? Seriously, they're only like two feet wide! And don't even get me started on the courthouse pitiful excuse for sidewalks, They don't even encompass the entire block! What backward idiot was allowed to let that design failure fly?!

September 28, 2012, 03:17:23 PM^^^Or how about a 6-9 ft sidewalk with inserts/planters separating pedestrians from vehicles and contributing to the overall aesthetics and feel of downtown? Too much to ask for? Maybe plants hanging from the lights? Designers down there are putting in inexcusable "Julington Creek/suburbanesque" sidewalks into core areas. Doesn't work.
Good update though (aside from that despicable VA with the prison fence around it and the sea of parking, all replacing some interesting buildings...land is just tooo cheap down there!).

All anyone has to do is go over to Chelsea and Stonewall on McCoys Creek and look at that street end and you can see first hand the DEMOLITION of habitat. Someone didn't get the memo.
