August 10, 2009, 10:58:23 AMIt's a crying shame that in a metro of 1.3 million persons we get all excited by just two buildings, Wolfson and the Courthouse. Is it just me or did anyone else hear of any other new or renovated buildings? Usually with something big like the new courthouse going up it tends to spin off energy on surrounding projects. Do we even have another proposed "Project" in this area?

August 10, 2009, 11:14:14 AMFrom the looks of it, the Wolfson site didn't have any signs of progress from months ago. How do we still not know what the intended use of that white building is on King street? I am excited to see what that is going into the shops of Avondale.

August 10, 2009, 11:27:40 AMOh not another dead project; I'm questioning if the new Hilton will even survive without a freeway ramp or some other direct access... Maybe we should pray for a Seminole Indian invasion on that old JEA plant site?

August 10, 2009, 12:09:23 PMHow about the "new" gas station at the corner of Philips and Baymeadows were the Exxon was? Now that's BIG news in the BIG city
If you are desperate enough, you could include the new Hendricks Avenue Baptist sanctuary replacing the one destroyed by fire. It's "almost" San Marco.
The biggest non-Courthouse project in Jax under construction is likely the I-95/I-10 interchange. For updates, etc. see http://www.thebigi.info/

August 10, 2009, 03:31:09 PMWell, for the narrow area that this monthly article reports on, I think that's good, all things considered. I've seen several other condo projects proceeding around town, so growth continues. These make me nervous now and not celebratory as I fear ever more inventory in an overladen market and a continued downward pressure on prices.

August 10, 2009, 11:53:37 PMAlright, whatever you think, just presenting the fact, not the fiction.

You might have a strong opinion that Obama's new health care plan is not the cause of the hospital being put on hold, but there is no way to prove it one way or another. You can't call a speculation a "fact" as opposed to "fiction."

August 11, 2009, 12:14:47 AMHmm, if you go back, Baptist/Wolfson's released a statement saying it is on hold, long before this proposed health care overhaul.
I just find it funny people are trying to tie in this ObamaCare plan with a months prior to the fact announced hospital expansion tower. The economy ground the tower to a halt, not this health care overhaul proposal. Go back into the Wolfson's thread and read the facts, before twisting it, trust.
Here's the T-U article as well:

August 11, 2009, 01:00:13 PMThe one thing I have noticed about 3rd and Market is the lack of any signage. When driving down Main St you have no idea that there are new businesses ahead. They need to improve thier signage.

August 11, 2009, 04:24:59 PM^^^FSU, you are right on! The signage is absolutely terrible. I was trying to find a picture of signs that they could add to the building in keeping with the look and feel. When I came across this article, I had to laugh because it goes against what I was thinking. To each his own.

August 20, 2009, 08:45:59 PMImo, give it a few months. The courthouse under construction is one thing. The bank's willingness to lend money to major construction projects in downtown Jacksonville is another.
