Chamblin Bookmine Book Trade-in / Buying Policy
WHAT BOOKS ARE ACCEPTED AS TRADE-INS, OR FOR CASH PURCHASE?
Books should be in reasonably good overall condition, and reasonably clean. We accept as trade-ins any hardcover or paperback book we believe will be salable. We may not trade-in some titles which we already have in abundance; or which we believe my not be salable for any reason, such as a title which may not be in demand simply because of its dated information.
WHAT OTHER ITEMS DO WE TRADE-IN OR PURCHASE?
We trade-in selected movie DVDs and music CDs, and many of the older, pre-1960 magazines. We also trade-in older, pre-1975 comics, and old post cards.
WHAT DO WE OFFER IN MOST CASED FOR TRADE-INS?
If the book is a salable title which is expected to sell reasonably well, we usually offer as a trade-in value up to one-half of our expected selling price for the book. As the salability of a title decreases, or as our stock need decreases for a title, we may offer less for the title. In many cases, we may be trading in a title for which we are gambling that we can actually use it in our stock. As the gamble risk increases, we may offer less for the book.
HOW MANY BOOKS CAN BE BROUGHT TO TRADE-IN OR SELL DURING A STORE VISIT?
Our customers bring in as few as one book, and as many as ten to twenty boxes of books. We suggest that, for everyones convenience, if you have a large quantity of trade-ins, such as over twenty boxes, you contact us so that we can arrange for a pick-up of the boxes for review at our warehouse. Another option is for our buyer to review the titles at your location. He can then select for trade-in or purchase, only those titles which he believes are salable.
WHAT CAN ONE DO WITH THE TRADE-IN CREDIT?
The trade-in credit is placed on our database in the customers file for retrieval whenever the customer visits one of our two locations. For example, if a customer has a $90.00 book credit on file, and wishes to purchase a $5.00 book, the $5.00 is removed as a debit from the $90.00 balance, thereby leaving on file the amount of $85.00 for future use. The book credit can be used for the purchase of new or used books, DVDs, or music CDs. Book credit can be used to rent audiobooks or DVDs.
HOW LONG DO WE KEEP BOOK CREDIT ON FILE?
We keep book credit on file till hell freezes over, or until all of our computers crash, including our backups, and including our backup computers off site.
CAN THE BOOK CREDIT BE CONVERTED INTO CASH?
A customer can convert all or any part of his or her book credit into cash. The cash value is 25% less than the book credit amount. For example, if a customer has $100.00 in book credit on file and wishes to cash out, he or she will receive $75.00 by check immediately. We can usually payout in cash for amounts below $50.00.
CAN BOOK CREDIT BE USED TO BUY A GIFT CARD?
Book credit can be used to buy a gift card, but the book credit becomes 10% less in value when used to purchase a gift card.
