We tend to feel that this is an issue that is revisited constantly and never sees any action taken. In the meantime though, it has been discovered that kicking the parking meters downtown automatically gives the user more time by resetting the timer!
Therefore, we would like to submit the following resolution to the City Council for approval:
We, the most honorable members of the City Council of Jacksonville, FL, hereby pass the following resolution:
Whereas, parking sucks - in all forms - downtown,
Whereas, city government, both City Council and the Mayor, has been proven impotent in finding a solution to the problem,
Whereas, kicking the meters downtown gives the user of the parking space more usage time and saves the user money,
Whereas, the harder the kick that is applied to the meter, there is a correlated increase in added usage time,
THEREFORE, the citizens of Duval County are hereby encouraged to kick the @#$! out of the parking meters in downtown Jacksonville.

November 09, 2006, 01:40:44 PMI went to a city council meeting and my car got locked into one of the nearby garages. It took me 20 minutes to find someone to let me out. This is an approachable city government? An they wonder why people don't come downtown?
